Marilyn Book (mini-review)
I just read this, (although the cover on mine isn't as nice as this cover, 'cos I got mine in a charity shop for about £2).
As I was reading it, and mainly towards the beginning I was a bit pissed off cos I thought it was a bit one-sided, well actually that's a lie. Having loved Marilyn all through my pre-pubescent years I am fiercely biased. Summers was a bit ... how can I put it ... not so? He thought she was putting on a front, being manipulative, acting ditzy etc. whatever. But he wrapped up her death nicely.
I've never really known that much about her death but as a lover of conspiracy theories I've always maintained she was murdered. Summers makes it all very clear from a semi-unbiased point of view. It's definitely worth a read if you're interested in Miss Monroe. Otherwise you will definitely be bored out of your mind. It's basically an information blaster, Summers is no Shakespeare that's for sure. There are a couple of nice moments though:
